CME Group and CF Benchmarks Launch New Cryptocurrency Reference Rates for Arbitrum, Ondo, NEAR, and Sui

Published: May 29, 2025

CME Group (NASDAQ: CME), the world’s leading derivatives marketplace, in partnership with CF Benchmarks, a top provider of cryptocurrency benchmark indices, today announced the introduction of four new cryptocurrency reference rates and real-time indices. These cover Arbitrum (ARB), Ondo (ONDO), NEAR Protocol (NEAR), and Sui (SUI)—key players in the growing digital asset ecosystem.

Unlike futures contracts, these new benchmarks are designed strictly as reliable pricing tools for investors, traders, and institutions looking to assess and value their crypto portfolios accurately.

“With 28 cryptocurrencies now represented in our CME CF Reference Rates and Real-Time Indices, we cover over 96% of the investable cryptocurrency market capitalization,” said Giovanni Vicioso, CME Group Global Head of Cryptocurrency Products. “This ensures market participants have transparent, trustworthy data to support portfolio valuation and structured product creation.”

These indices pull price data from multiple exchanges in the CME CF Benchmark network, including Bitstamp, Bullish, Coinbase, Crypto.com, Gemini, itBit, Kraken, and LMAX Digital. This multi-source pricing strengthens the credibility and accuracy of each benchmark.

Institutions require crypto benchmarks that meet the same standards of accuracy, transparency, and governance as traditional finance. Adding Arbitrum, Ondo, NEAR, and Sui to the CME CF Single Asset Series gives the market regulated, trusted tools to engage with these tokens, mirroring the methodologies behind Bitcoin benchmarks that support over $100 billion in regulated crypto products.

How the New Benchmarks Work:

  • Reference Rates: Published once daily at 4 p.m. London time, providing the U.S. dollar price of each digital asset. Ondo and Sui also have an additional daily publication at 4 p.m. New York time.
  • Real-Time Indices: Updated every second, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, delivering continuous market price tracking.

This launch signals accelerating institutional adoption of crypto assets and reinforces CME Group’s commitment to delivering regulated and reliable pricing benchmarks across the expanding digital asset universe.
